To clean out a fishless 55 gallon tankand disinfect, I was told you can leave it set up and just pour a half cup or cup of bleach, let it run a few days, then drain and rinse everything thoroughly. Is this a good idea, or is there a better way to THOROUGHLY clean and disinfect a tank?? Theres also some planaria in there I want to kill...

You can also use potassium permanganate, a strong oxydiser and rather dangerous but easier to deactivate than bleach. Will stain hands in concentrated form, permanently stains clothing and carpet. I've read of wiping a tank with alcohol, also.
