Hi,
I am going to be upgrading from my 55g to a 125g. I'll be using the 55 as a sump. I have a flame angel, yellow tang, 2 chromis, and a algea blenny. I also have some basic corals my questions are as follows.

Can I keep a Naso Tang in with everything I currently have?

Is the Naso truley reef safe?

Is there a better choice among larger reef safe fishes?

Thanks as always

You'll find that your Naso will get pretty cramped in a 125... they can get really big... one of the people I take care of tanks for has one around 14 inches long and hes three years old only! If you plan on upgrading eventually, I don't see any harm in it, they are reef safe.

Well this is my big upgrade, should I be looking to go bigger? I could probably pull off a 150 without getting divorced. It's just the 125 fits my area a little better

There is no difference between a 125g and a 150g. I shouldn't say none, because there is, the 150g. is just higher, everything else is the same. The viewing space is almost the same. The border is bigger on the 150g. which makes the viewing space almost the same. I went with the 125 myself because of that reason and it was alot cheaper.

Naso Tangs can get up to 18 inches... the tank is about 24 inches wide I think... seems pushing it to me... its nice when the fish can turn around

tank size isnt always standard with the gallon rating. why dont someone tell him what dimensions he would need to keep one. im not sure exactly myself, so lets try to do this one without a tang flame.

OK, the 125, and 150 are 18 inches wide and the 180 and 120 are 24.

Can someone point me in the direction of a better sized tang for the 125. I really can't go with the 180 and It does seem an 18" fish in an 18" tank with live rock is excessive. I want another large reef safe fish that won't kill my yellow tang. The water quality in my 55g is perfect and stable. I expect that to remain intact with my 125. I am going to add 120 lbs base rock and 120 lbs base sand to the 125 and cycle that and then add 90 lbs of live rock from the 55g bewteen the main tank and sump. My concern is really just the fish fighting.
I just really have my heart set on larger fish

i have seen alot of tanks with a yellow tang and a blue tang in them, i have a hippo and a sailfin living together in my 135. the sailfin has been in there roughly 4 months and the hippo has been in there for roughly 2 months. so its not exactly safe to say they will be fine, but so far not much fighting.
