now that I found a university that offers Chemistry online
I might actually have to knuckle under and get my BSN

http://departments.weber.edu/chemistry/online.htm

hey happy just think you could have stayed at home and got your chemistry degree online :D

Not a chance! Chem. Undergrad was rough, but it was doable because there were 30 other people going through it at the same time. When they start culling the herd in 3rd year and you're spending all morning in class and every afternoon except Friday in the lab, followed by a quick supper and studying/homework, gah! Now I know why I'm eager to be done with school. But yeah, having a bunch of others there with you helps, so do the parties with said people, all looking to unwind. If I were at home I would be too tempeted to slack.

But more importantly, how fun would an online lab realy be?! :D No fumes to make you dizzy, nothing exploding or changing colours (whether or not it should be ;) ), no data to make up, uh, I mean write down...

hehehehehehe, since I am not required to take more than the one class and since the price is definately lower to take it online than to take it on a campus around me and since the timing I can set, errrrrrrr yep I will definately think about taking it online :)

errrrrrr Happy I'm not really interested in chemistry per see I just have to have a class that I can pass and say here is the chemistry requirement, actually I'm not really sure why I have to take chemistry for my BSN since the BSN courses themselves focus more on admistrative than the clinical aspect of nursing, ask anybody and they will tell you that ASN nurses have more clinical experience than BSN only students. When I first got my license and started as a nurse there was a group of us; the BSN nurses were lost in the clinical area, because they had not spent as much time as those of us with ASN's in the clinical areas. They had to be taught how to function. If you go into a hospital you will find that alot of nursing administrators don't have the faintest clue how to clinically take care of a patient. Yet they have the higher degrees.
Plus I haven't settled on using Weber at all just that I was surprised to see that a course was offered online. ;)
Never fear I will probably talk myself out of starting my BSN it is just a thought I toy with now and then, there is also a program online to get your Forensic certification online with virtual field trips to the morgue for autopsy's as well I found that interesting.
Just goes to show that you can find anything on the web if you look hard enough.

Hey, I say go for it. If it's just an issue of getting a required class, then the web is absolutely fine! I don't think that one could become a chemist online of equal ability as one who had real hands on experience, wet chem is too important, but a lot of the classes could easily have been taken online. It all comes down to the dedication level of the student, if you wanted to learn it badly enough, you could probably teach yourself using a good text book.

if only it was that easy but I have to have the credits to show for it actually I found another one here in maryland that teaches it online also so since I live here in MD it might work better just have to see if it will meet the requirements of the University for my BSN.

BTW--how is married live treating you :D

ASN--Associates of Science in Nursing
BSN--Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
