Can MiniTherm or Tronic heaters be trusted? I'm looking for a 50 Watt submersible and don't want to spend too much, but I want something that will work!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seeking opinions on Tronic and/or MiniTherm heaters...

I've never used the minitherm but I trust the Tronics. I have them in 3 of my tanks ATM, and have had the same ones running for years.
Tronic are good heaters, plain and simple. I have never heard about MiniTherm but save your self and just go for the Tronic.
I have used a 50 watt Tronic submersible purchased three years ago with my Eclipse 12 system and it's worked flawlessly. Its thermostat is dead on with my thermometer for accuracy.
Is it possible you mean Visi-therm, If so they are good heaters as well. They aren't as highly regarded as the tronics and ebo's, but I have a bunch of them and have never had a complaint. If I ever do have a problem I will probably try an Ebo or Tronic but visi-therm has yet to fail me.

Here is a rule of thumb with heaters (from what I have seen).
The more expensive the heater, the better it will be.
This is just speaking on generality, but you can kind of see what I am talking about.

If you have fish that tend to rest against the heater, or more violent fish that might smash at the heater, then I recommend it.
