I have started a 10g skimmerless nano-reef WF. I have a sand aragonite substrate and 10lb of LR. I have a Maxi-jet MP 400 in there now and would like to put a ZooMed powersweep 212 in there. THe Maxi is stationary. How would you suggest placing the 212 relative to the MP 400? Opposing flows? Same direction? What are the "basics" behind making this decision?

I might be inclined to pass on the 2nd powerhead myself - that's a lot of current in a small tank. As far as placement goes, you would want it directed towards any spot that currently isn't receiving much current, which usually translates as the opposing direction to the existing powerhead.

Akron, huh. I used to live in Creston, worked in Orrville.

THe one PH is a ZooMed 212 which has adjustable flow. I've turned it down somewhat. I have them opposed right now. They're in both of the left corners now. THe stationary one is up in front shooting across the front face. The one in the back-left shoots across the back face as is sweeps vertically (up and down the back face). 10lb. of LR are in the center of the tank. What I will try to do is create areas of high flow and low flow, so I can have inverts of different current requirements.
