Here is what I asked a vendor regarding a2x54 Watt T5 Tek Retrokit 46.5".

"I have a 75 gal saltwater tank with a coralife pc hood 2-65w 10k, 2-65w actinic, and 2 fans. Would this retro kit work adding it to my oak canopy, 48x18x5 to supplement it...........Thanks."

Does this answer give me the most lighting for my arrangement?

"Thanks for your email, you can definitely add T5s for supplementation. Just make sure the width of your tank has ample room to fit the fixture + T5’s without blocking. You may also want to switch out the actinic PC’s – go with all 10K’s for PC’s and use the T5’s purely as actinic supplementation."

Thanks.

Welcome to AC!
The arrangement the vendor describes sounds good. Fitting the PC hood plus the T5 (1 or two reflectors?) sounds like a squeeze, though.

Thanks for the reply and welcome. My existing lights are approx. 7" deep and the retro needs 5" so I should be ok with the 18" deep canopy. Also someone else recommended I keep my pc's as is and put 60/40 aquablue 11k lights in the t5 for the most beneficial light output. Does that sound ok.............Thanks again.

As far as the corals are concerned, it probably doesn't make much difference. The 10000 K lamps also put out a good bit of the blue end of the spectrum, so the corals will get plenty of the right kind of light either way. Depends on how blue you like the tank.
