i am using a jungle laboratories C02 injector in a 20l. i have 2 N. brichardi in it, and it is planted wall to wall. i've heard that when using C02 you want to minimize surface disturbance so as not to waste the C02. should i eliminate the aerator? would the plants and cichlids be getting enough oxygen if i did?
You really need to post more info. on the aeration. Also your kH, pH, lighting etc.
But based on what you've said, I would definately eliminate the aeration. If you've got lots of plants they will benefit from the extra CO2 and supply tons of oxygen. If you find your pH dropping too low at night you could aerate to gas off excess CO2, but it probably won't be necessary.

Like DJ hinted, the plants consume CO2 when there is light, and give off oxygen. When there is not light, the plants consume oxygen and give off co2.
