If i were to mix 2 2"oscars with 2 3" piranhas what will most likely happen? The oscars will kill the piranhas or visa versa?

haha, my vote goes to the piranha's all the way, and ya should have posted this in general freshwater or at least cichlids:)

Okay what do you think will win a fish with teeth or a fish with no teeth, vote goes on the piranhas, they'll make a fast snack of the Oscars.

There both from the same native waters and can both live together peacefully.

The piranhas however are notorious for getting hungry and attacking their tankmates.

I tried them before with a 4" Oscar and 2x 2" RBP. Oscar suffered!

Only in rare unusual circumstances will Piranhas be able to share a tank with another species. Someone mentioned Piranhas and Oscars share the same habitats, I don't believe this. The Amazon is thousands of miles of waterways and even if they come from the same general area it probably would not be exact.

The Amazon is thousands of miles of waterways

Theres a big difference between trying to keep fish in a closed area and a massive area...tons of territory and lots of room to run.

The oscars are masters at escaping piranhas in the wild because they are smart and have lots of hiding places and escape routes. If you keep an oscar with a piranha in a tank, the escape routes will be a LOT fewer in number, and the piranha will eventually figure out that the eyespot is just a "dummy". My vote: piranhas, if we're talking about this proposed tank, but my vote would be "don't do it" if I am forced to choose between having this tank setup or not.

hey whats up mky friend had a 55 gallon tank with 2 5" rbp and 1 5" oscar and they got together pretty good right when the oscar got put in the tank the rbp kinda pushed him around to see what the oscar would put up with but they got along pretty good. a key is to keep them both feed very well i think so that the rbp don't have to attack there tank mates. another would be try to feed them deferent things like feed the rbp feeders and the oscar beef heart or worms it seems to work to so then one fish doesn't feel like the other is stilling his food.

I have 3 semi-adult piranhas w/ 1 oscar and 2 pleco's in a 100 gal tank, The red bellies take some bites at the oscars fins' but nothing too serious. I do feed them apart, I lure the oscar to a corner with chichlid pellets and dump some frozen shrimp in by the power head for the piranha. They are even starting to breed.

On a side note,
I did put a smaller catfish in,
and they ate him.
So I would suggest only trying a fish of equal size, if not bigger
or odds are it won't survive.

i had 5 RBP long ago they would eat anything i put in the tank before they got a chance to hide
i would not take the chance with a cool fish like an Oscar

just my 2 cents
