for the last week or two, i have made alot of posts on breeding harlequin rasboras, i remember reading a post about 2 weeks back aobut a guy who s rasboras did waht i wanted them to do. i believe the post was this one http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41884
i jsut wanted to know how long the "foreplay" of shaking and circling. will this need to go on for more than a couple of days befor i see the female turn upside down. i am takiing steps to lower the pH (injecting CO2) and i still need to soften my water. the guy at the lfs said that i could bring in buckets and they could give me R/O. would that work in softening up the water, any insight would be greatly appreciated,

Have him test the hardness while you're there, but I believe it should be very soft as well as very low in pH.

RO usually entails stripping darn near everything from the water.

My RO unit at my house that supplies drinking water only, gives me a 6.8pH reading and a 0 degree Gh reading as well as a 0 degree Kh reading. I do have a water softener in my home too, so the Gh reading is most likely caused by that.

I apoligize for being of topic, but anyone who drinks R\O water are greatly increasing the risk of cancer, the more acidic (soft) the water is, the worse off you are in the long run. Alkaline water has been known and is used in Asia as part of the treatment. If you drink R\O water please be sure to elevate it to alkaline, look it up, trust me. again my apologies for being off topic but I care for fellow aquarists.

My H rasboras have been doing this same kind of upside down swimming lately too. I can't see any eggs yet, maybe they are being eaten by the rest of the gang? How big is the egg cluster supposed to be?
