i work at my lfs and some one just brought in a 10 in beautiful male red devil. it is very docile and kid of gets picked in by a big managuence that is in there. i want to purchase it to go with my two oscars and an albino channel cat that i have. the lady said that she had it with a texas and a oscar, so i think it will work. what do you think? anything will help thanks.

hi,i should see no reson why it couln't go in with your fish,a friend of mine had one in with tiger shovel noses, lima shovel noses, oscars and a lerius catfish.

just keep your eye on it.

Defeinately keep an eye on it. Many suggest adding two or three cichlids to a tank with cichlids already in it. That way the agression isn't all on one fish. You might be able to do it if your tank is large and you have a lot of hiding places.

I'd be more cautious of your O's responses than the RD's, as if they feel a threat to themselves or their territory (which is the whole tank) then you may have some serious problems. In order to keep these problems to a minimum, I would turn off the lights, re-arrange the tank, introduce the RD and keep the lights off for full day (as long as you get good ambient).

As already asked, "How big is your tank?" because you'll be needing atleast a minimum 150gal tank (MINIMUM!) IMHO, especially with the size that that Channel Cat can attain  . Myself, I would be thinking 175-200gal for those fish.

As already asked, "How big is your tank?" because you'll be needing atleast a minimum 350gal tank (MINIMUM!) IMHO, especially with the size that that Channel Cat can attain (see link) . Myself, I would be thinking 150gal for just the two O's and the RD.

apart from they will get smashed soon as the RD gets his place in the tank which will be 100% and 100% the boss

the RD i am on about as been in this set up for over a year, and there is no probs between any of the fish, infact the RD feeds out of your fingers.

he offered me the RD the other day,as he's wanting some rays,

tim

The fact that he feeds from your hand is meaningless. Most any RD can be trained to do that. And just because he is leaving the fish he is with at the store alone is no guarantee that he will do the same in your tank. You have not answered the question about your tank size either. I would hope that your two oscars and catfish are in at least a 125g.
