I'm a begginer (again lost last tank thanks to an ice storm and power outage) trying to do things right so I need some help. Right now I have we cycled my water and live rock in my 30 gallon tank. I have a Fluval 204 and a Red Sea Prizm filter. I used to have a royal gramma in my first tank and some chromatins, and wouldn't mind going back to that format + something else don't really know right now. I love tangs and angels, but I've been told that they won't be happy in a 30. My main question is this . . . i would like to add coral to my tank, but I don't have the right type of lighting. What should I get? I've been told to get a power compact with lighting = to 3 watts per gallon. So I've been looking at the coralife 96 watt aqualight. I've seen a company called Jebo online, but I don't know anything about them. Their product seems to be in the too good too be true category. I ask for any advise in regards to lighting and fish selection.

For the majority of corals, the 96 watt fixture will be at or below the minimum. I used a coralife 2X65 watt fixture on a 20, and got great growth. My neighbor uses one on his 29 and has been giving away frogspawn frags to anyone who will take them.

Haven't used Jebo, so I don't know if the quality is any good.

Re: Jebo Lights

Jebo lights are an awesome value. Only problem is, the bulbs are crap. But even after replacing 4 coralife bulbs at $20 (also from the internet) it's still a whole lot cheaper than other power compact systems. I've even heard they have a new MH model out now.

Thanks for the advise

Thanks to all for your advise. I think I'm going to go after some LPS coral. I think I'm about to get a 2 * 96 watt pc so if I'm correct that should be sufficient. Now all I need to do is find what fish combination will coexist peacefully in a reef system and not over populate my tank.

Jebo is now Aquatraders.I bought the 36"305w HQI with supposed 175 watt metal halide at 20,000k lamp and 2x65 actinics. They work fine expect there is no 175 double ended lamps at 20,000k in the market to buy. They don't even sell them.I'm stuck with them.Wish that I could afford something better. My anemoe loves the light though.I think they're passing off 150w as 175watts.They don't respond to questions. If anyone has any input, contact me @ zanymaster@yahoo.com

Their lights are ok if you're on a budget.I bought their HQI system which is ok except that it's not quality stuff. You get what you pay for.
