I'm going to swap all of the gravel in my 12 gallon tank with sand. Does anyone have any advice for me? Will my nitrifying bacteria culture take a hit because of it?
Gravel to Sand, Any Advice?

I have heard of folks changing a section at a time to ensure the bacteria stay at good levels. This may leave you with a little gravel left in the tank of course, but I've found my small net does a fine job of letting sand pass through while collecting larger things in the tank. The hardest part I imagine would be not stressing the fish out by dropping clumps of sand into their home.
I'm planning on swapping out my onyx sand for tahitian moon sand.
This is what i plan to do.
1) take out all the decor
2) use a strong siphon to suck up all the sand (making sure the output flows into a pillow case and lets the water flow down the drain)
3)add new sand in
