I have a 55g tank and I have been looking at crowntail bettas. The only problem is that I have a dwarf guarami and I think I remember hearing somewhere that because they are both labrynth fish, the betta may not be too fond of him. Have any of you heard this?

Yes. Labyrinth fish generally will kill other labyrinth fish.

i've had a dwarf and a female betta for about 9 months in the same tank.before that he was in with a male in a 10g without a problem.then we needed the 10 for a nursary, and did a made shuffle all night.i'm guessing your tanks long enough for them to stay away from each other.

IME that'd be begging for trouble. Female bettas generally don't have the aggressive dispositions of the males, nor the longer fins to nip. I wouldn't even try it in 55G... A Gourami will most likely shred your betta. They are absolutely amazing fish, but for their sake, I'd strongly advise against keeping them together.

Don't mix gouramis and bettas. It's a recipe for disaster.
