Hi, I have been having problem with some of my fish. I have lost five fish in the past week.Three of them had what looked like a swallen red eye. I also lost two other fish, both had cuts and fins ripped off. Does anyone know what could have caused this? I have not introduced any new fish into the aquarium so i dought that a fish could have done this. I have never had trouble with my aquarium before. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What fish are in the tank and how big is it? There are some extremely knowledgeable people (I'm not one of em yet ;) ) here that may be able to help you, but they will need more to work with.

I have a 16 gallon bow-front tank. I have 2 Great Danios, 1 silver dollar,
2 columbian tetras, and 1 serpe tetra. I have lost 2 black swordtails, 1 serpe tetra, and two small algae eaters.

It looks like everything you have listed are mostly schooling fish and do not have enough to school with, and at least two of them (the Danios and Silver Dollar) will require a bigger tank. I would check your Ammonia, NitrIte and NitrAte levels as well.

almost sounds like either something has been misnamed to him when he bought it if the fins were shredded like fighting or aggression? maybe territorialism due to not enough fish causing schooling fish to be aggressive?

Maybe, but I have had these same fish for about a year now, and they have never attacked each other. Maybe I should get more schooling fish? Also, I have noticed another one of my fish has a swallen red eye.
