Are there any types of pleco (besides zebra) that can happily fit in a 20g (US) tank? I don't have the tank yet, but I just love planning whats going into my tanks.

While we are here, does anyone have any stocking suggestions?

EDIT: Of course, there will be a heater and filter!

plenty. I wish I could start rambling them off but I don't remember all the names, I have an L270 AKA golden zebra AKA widebar pleco, had it for close to 5 years and it's like the size of my pointer finger. Mine doesn't eat algae, requires flakes and pellets. I think there is a website called planetcatfish.com, they have alot listed there with pics.

Planet Catfish is a good place to start, especially their cat-e-log. Several of the plecos stay smaller. Are you looking for a true algae eater or do you just like plecos? If you want an algae eater, Otocinculus cats stay small and 3 would be fine in a 20 gallon.

As for other suggestions; I don't know off hand. What kind of tank are you going for? Peaceful, active, aggressive, planted, rocky?

I like active fish, I don't really care if the pl*eco will eat algae, I've just always wanted one.

Well, here is a link to the Cat-eLog at Plant Catfish.com. Just clik on the right hand side where it says common names and start finding the Plecos. Some stay around 4 inches and are really quite visually stunning fish.

Clown plecos and dwarf bristlenose plecos aren't too expensive and are more common than some other small plecos. Clowns aren't great for algae eating (at least mine isn't), but IMO are more attractive than bristlenoses. Bristlenoses are reputed to be good algae eaters though.
