My photography skills suck, as does my camera. :( Here is the best of about 20 pictures:

The little blue stripes in the background are the neon tetras ruining all my pictures! :D
Nice looking fish! Your photography skills aren't all that bad either.

They're beautiful! You must be so excited :D
I've always wanted a large tank with discus and neons/cardinals, they're such a gorgeous combination. You've got a very nice tank, and there's nothing wrong with the pictures at all :)

Thanks for the compliments! After seeing some of the board member's pictures I am almost ashamed to post mine! When I get a new camera I will try again.

that is an AWSOME set up you got their man. awsome. and the fish look great, and I dont know why you say that you have bad photography skills...its fairly obvious that they're good. Great fish. Beautiful. Good luck with all of them.
(love that pleco)
Speaking of the pleco, do you know what kind it is? I have one that looks just like it. It doesn't look like the normal run of the mill plecos that I see around here.

Well I took a load of pics and these are the only good ones. Even these have blurred fish in them which I think is mostly the camera. With a better camera I think I can improve. I read an article on photography and am looking forward to apply those tips with a good camera. Personally I think the pics look better because of the subjects... just like you don't see any bad pictures of Charlize Theron. :D

It's a sailfin pleco. I really like him a lot, always busy cleaning but never bothering the other fish.

that is an amazing tank. what are you water parameters? Looks really good, but what is that huge pleco doing in there. I think that i read that plecos will try to eat the slime off the discus????

The water is as of 2 hours ago:
ph 7
kh 4
dh ~5 (not quite 4 not quite 5)
82 degrees
nh3 0
no2 0
I heard the slime eating rumors too, that pleco has never bothered another fish, in fact he got chased all over last night for getting too close to a large discus. (what a coward!) :D
The temp is a bit high for the plecos but I have had them in this tank for years with no problems at all.

I am seriously jealous of your tank. Hopefully one day I can have a 300ish gallon tank that has discus, cardinals and pencilfish in it. I would have more plants but that is about it. Do you do large daily water changes? Do you have a thread on how you built a cement tank?? I am very interested in making my own tank.....

I have more plants, but have resisted the urge to add them yet because some of the plants in there will be huge once they are fully developed. I do small daily water changes of 5% right now. (may go up in the near future)
To build a cement tank you just need to frame it out using "casettes" (sic) and 2x4's. It is done just like a house foundation.
I want a discus tank !! :D
Check out this site on discus fish....I would LOVE to visit this place, but unfortunately I live on the wrong side of the continent..lol...

Hey, don't feel bad about your photography skills. The other night I took 307 pictures of a 15G community tank. I think MAYBE 20 of them were worth keeping! I have decided fish are simply hard to photograph as it is hard to convey to them what you are trying to accomplish and as a result the fish are normally very uncooperative. I did have one gravid female neon blue dwarf gourami who seemed fully aware of the fact I was taking pictures. I think she ended up in 70% of the pictures, whether I wanted her in them or not! The rest of the fish (gourami, algae eaters, swordtails, and barbs) seemed to consider the camera to be the epitome of everything that is evil. It wasn’t until I was almost finished that I realized what the fish were actually scared of was the screen on the back of my digital camera reflecting off my excessively pale face and back at them through the darkness. Needless to say, it was a long, only somewhat productive night. I must say your five out of 20 sure beats my 20 out of 307. Thanks for sharing the pics of your beautiful new fish!
Jeesh....Glad to know I'm not the ONLY nut who spends so much time taking pictures of my fish ! LOL....right now, I think I have more pics of my FISH than I have of my FAMILY !!!
Is there something wrong with this ???
