Thinking of going bare bottom(in my aquarium that is) anyone done? for it? bad experiences? against it?

i dont know about ever hearing about anyone doing this in a standard tank, but ive heard that you shouldnt do in in QT's, because if the fish are already stressed, and they dont feel like theres a bottom on a tank, they will get more stressed... i dont remember the exact reasons, but i remember it wasnt so good for the fish....
