I've got a 3" common plec that has eaten most of the algae in my 20 gallon tank.

There are some java ferns in there too he could munch on but is there something else I could feed him?

I know they like plants and algae.

when i still had plecos i fed them alage wafers that i got cheap from walmart. they really seemed to like them.

i would go with live veggies like the other guy suggested but alage wafers are another option

omg! my pleco LOVES cucumber! I cut a round slice and use one of those veggie clips (you find it at any petstore or lfs) to hold it down, usually in the evening after the lights are out. Then i just sit up and watch him go nuts about it!! ;)

i feed him algae wafers as well, but cucumbers ..mmm... it's his fave!!

i forgot to say that i remove the seeds with a pointed knife before giving it to him. And dont forget to remove whatever is left next morning or it will get rotten

Cucumber, Zuchinni, brocoli stems, green beans, romain lettuce, carrots, algea wafers, and driftwood are all on the menu for mine. some pleco's don't actually eat the wood, but all of them appreciate having it to cling to. I limit the number of algea wafers, and usually stick to fresh veggies as a rule. Mine also likes blood worms and brine shrimp ( I use frozen) and will eat bottom feeder wafers when he can.
