What kind of alage is it? WE need to know this becaseue there are many ways to get rid of it. I would stay away from chemicals because they can mess your water up.

The light brown - clean off and vacuum/change water. It is very common to new tanks, by which I mean, almost all new tanks get this. It goes away in time. How about some more details on your setup and on the other "dark black" algae.
Check the algae stickies at the top of the page and ID the algae....then get back with a postitive ID.
As stated previously, we need information on the tank as well as the algae.
