I have a pair of Keyhole cichlids, does anyone have these, can you tell me a little about these, ill research myself, its just that ive never even heard of these since i sore them today, and brought them, i knew they were peaceful, can the go with angels? thanks

My experience has been that they are more of a peaceful cichlid and sometimes quite shy. However, I had two males and the larger of the two was quite nippy. I only have one male left and he lives with two leopard ctenopomas, a S.A. leaf fish and several other smaller tankmates. My guess would be that keyholes would be able to live with angels. I always tell people they can try it, but make sure they have a back up solution if it doesn't work out. :D

Hi, I have a pair that I've had for a few months now. They are extremely easygoing and frighten just as easily as my silver dollars, watch them turn black when they get spooked. That said they wont be pushed around by anyone else in the tank and will chase off the congo tetras at feeding time. On that score, they love their grub! will eat anything.

Not the most colourful cichlid but very underrated in my opinion.

Yea definatly, they are great and i was told that they are rarely seen in the LFS, i got them as the look some what like parrot fish in my opinion lol.

They hide alot though.

Cool, thanks for that bit of info, i dont see too much info on these, i know they get a max size of 5 inches, and are thes easier to breed, im hoping and pretty sure that i have one male and one female, will have to wait n see.

I have 2 Keyholes as well and I keep mine with 4 Bolivian Rams, 4 Tiger Barbs and a Figure 8 puffer. What amazes me most with those fish how fast they can turn there body color from the nice creamy color to the dirty look they have in some of the pics you posted and just as fast back to the nice creamy color.

5" is a monster keyhole! Usually no more than 3". I have a male at 3" and a female at 2". Sadly they're not likely to breed in my tank. Rock hard, p.h 8.
Nice pics ;)
