Right now I have my King's X collection playing. They are probably one of the best underrated progressive rock bands around. If Living Color were still together I may have to argue with myself. Next will be Depeche Mode, The Singles 1986>1998. After that I'm not sure, but I will likely be in bed. My King's X collection is rather large :D

Well, this is much harder to answer since I got my iPod since I carry all my music with me at once now :) Lately though I've been listening to a lot of Eric Clapton's stuff off Timepieces since I'm trying to learn some of it on the guitar. Most recently the wife and I were cracking up to Tenacious D. Other than that I've been listening to a lot of Beatles, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Buffet, Beck, and Ani DiFranco. Just try and pigeon hole me with that selection ;)
In general I like a lot of: AC/DC, Alanis Morrissette, Bare Naked Ladies, Blink 182, The Chieftains, Cowboy Junkies, Elvis Costello, Liz Phair, James, John Mellencamp, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Lemonheads, Live, Morphine, Offspring, Saw Doctors, ugh...too many.
This morning has been:
Sam and Dave
Staples Singers
Otis Redding
Booker T and the MG's
and currently
Eric Clapton & BB King

I'm not much of a fan of country music either. I find most of it to be "top 40 with a twang." I can get down with some good, old fashioned, foot stompin' bluegrass though.
Mostly I listen to some classic rock, experimental, reggae/roots/dub, jam band type stuff, jazz, and acoustical.......pretty much any music that isn't engineered to appeal to the "lowest common denominator."

Drowning Pool - Desensitized
And a homemade 70's mixed cd with Neil Sedka, Neil Diamond, Bee Gees, Henry Gross, England Dan & John Ford Coley, Michel Pagliaro, Seals & Crofts, Carly Simon and a few others from my youth that I really like that never ever get any kind of airplay here in Montreal. We had the Insane clown Posse in concert here in good old Peoria IL. That was a treat. I passed the civic center going to and from work, and the sights were interenting. In the afternoon before the concert the # of cop cars, fire trucks and ambulances was quite interesting. Apparenty there was a big fight after some guys girlfriend flashed her boobs at some other guy. I'm not sure why someone decided this was a good idea, I think their promoters approached us instead of us trying to attract them. Apparently as part of the negotations for the concert the promoters agrees to pay a few thousand ( I don't remember how much now) to the city for post concert clean-up and increased police presence.

What exactly did you find so disturbing? Was it the halloween masks they wear, the video itself, the song?
I ask only because I personally don't see how this is any more flambouyant than Britney Spears teaching 9 year olds to go out half naked or some of the more radical hip hop bands that preach and talk about how they killed people and pimped out women to get where they are.

Hey Scott, The part about the video I thought was so disturbing was the costumes as well as the lyrics. To me they looked like a bunch of demons up on stage. And I agree whole heartedly with you about Britney Spears and most of the rap artists. I'm convinced that the only reason they can sell their music is because of all the sexual inuendo, and in the case of rap music, the violence they preach as well. Any music that glorifies the gang lifestyle is garbage as far as I'm concerned. Look what happened to Tupac.

I really can't stand MTV. They air more "CRAP" programming than all the other stations combined. Some of their prime time shows should be on late night. Thanks to them, I've had to explain several "situations" to my young kids, WAY before either of us were ready. I know, I should have control over the TV and what they watch :o
Pro wrestling is running a close second. Back in my day, wrestling was on one night a week at 11pm. No one tore each others clothes off. No one made sexual inuendos. No one used foul language. Talk about ANYTHING for ratings. 25 years ago it was just good old fashioned entertainment. Nowawdays..........what a bunch of CRAP!!!! :mad2

It was the most ADD channel I've ever seen. Tyler718...I hadn't even scrolled far enough to see HArlock's coment...nor do I know you, but when I saw your comment about Pink Floyd not being the same, I had the same thought. It's just not the same without chemical assistance. Whoever came up with the "Wall" and the Wizard of Oz thing had to be high.
Flyingfish...I agree with the sensitive hearing thing. My husband loves Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson. The musics ok, but when those trumpets go high it's almost physically painful. And he has to play it loud. Come to find out he has a partial hearing loss. I'm not surprised. It's all that high octave trumpet music!
We have a car that he will probably never get rid of because Maynard Ferguson rode in it. :D DH has been a fan of his since high school. For those of you who refer to the age poll, DH is closer to shaking hands with Moses than I am!

Pro wrestling isn't even about wrestling anymore. Its more of a soap opera than anything else. I have a humerus story relating to pro wrestling. I once worked with a guy named Roy who was 36 and had never left home. He was the biggest wrestling fan I have ever met. He had been trying to get a job with this one company for nearly two years but hadn't had any luck. Finally the employer calls him up when he wasn't home to see if he could get him to come in for an interview. The thing was his answering machine message had the voice of the Undertaker on it talking about death and the like. Well the guy has no clue who the Undertaker is and thinks Roy is the one who left the greeting so he hangs up. Needless to say Roy didn't get the job.

I don't know about that man. Floyd always seems to to the trick. Everything together. Their sound is just so awesome. Listening to David Gilmour solo to; whether it be his amazing work with "money" and all the effects he uses to get that perfect sound, or "marooned" off their latest album, or "shine on you crazy diamond", it gives me shivers each time I hear it. And let me tell you, I listen to Floyd all the time. Gilmour particularly, has so much emotion when playing, and everything he plays comes out so perfectly, with that perfect pitch and tone... Drives me nuts!!... I'll stop now, cause I can just keep on going, and going, and going. . . .
Oddly, as much as I always appreciated Floyd, it's only once i started playing guitar that I really realised what an amazing band they really are. if you have a chance, for example, listen to "Money". I never really liked the song, until I really sat down and listened to it. To hear what he does with his guitar, is just amazing.

I've seen Pink Floyd live twice. What I didn't realize until I actually saw them is how much of an impact the 3 black chorus girls have on the music. One minute they have a gospel sound, the next it sounds kind of haunting. All the main members of the band are incredibly talented but the two sax players (depending on who is with them at the time) are also unbelieveable.

Absolutely!!! Let me tell you that I'm totally jelous of you!! I wanted to go see them in '95, but tickets were sold out. 3 shows, at 65000+ each show!!! I couldn't even find any scalpers!!.
That's another thing I like about Floyd. They know what sound they have and want, and they'd never settle for anything less. example: For the song Sorrow, to get that natural reverb sound, they rented out a stadium and played in it, while the place was empty, to get that "original and natural" reverb out of it. And you're right about the girls, and their sax players.

Yeah, how about a tour with Gilmour, Waters, and Barrett.
I could stop going to see live music for the rest of my life if I could just see that line up.

lol... I think that chances of that happening would be the same as mwaking up to the sight of pigs flying... And all these pigs would have ankle bracelets on... made of beads.. and they'd all be singing.. ;)
I always kinda felt bad for barrett.. poor guy man. I just hope he's happy now, doing whatever it is he's doing...

you gotta try it without the words.... the music is absolutely genious!
What software does that?
Nero ?
I'd like to remove lyrics from tunes.. I think that some music would sound better without the singing.

And now for something completely different. I just received these from CDBaby.com last night. Haven't heard them all yet:
HANIF NOORMOHAMED: Evolution (http://www.cdbaby.com/allmp3/hanifnoormohamed4.m3u)
TRAVIS STEELE NEVELS: Freestyle Guitar II (http://www.cdbaby.com/allmp3/nevels2.m3u)
PRASANT RADHAKRISHNAN: Swara Sudha (http://www.cdbaby.com/allmp3/prasant.m3u)
NICK STOUBIS: Mosaic: The Music of Greece (http://www.cdbaby.com/allmp3/stoubis.m3u)
ADRIAN GALYSH: King Friday (http://www.cdbaby.com/allmp3/galysh2.m3u)
THE GRIFF HAMLIN BAND: The Griff Hamlin Band (http://www.cdbaby.com/allmp3/griffhamlin.m3u)
ROD MOBASHER: Guitarra Con Amor (http://www.cdbaby.com/allmp3/mobasher.m3u)
And still listening to the latest EP from my favorite blues/rock band Indigenous (http://www.indigenousrocks.com/).
I think that with these latest additions we've filled our 300 capacity cd player. We've got a bit of everything from ABBA to ZZ Top.
