Today durring my lunch break I noticed a nice little "clown loach sized" bite cut out of the dorsal fin of one of my panda corys. I know clown loaches can get a bit nippy but my understanding is that they are generally harmless. What is the consenus on loaches and corys?

I keep corys and yo-yo loaches together and have never had any problems. It's possible but unlikely.

What other fish do you have?

I used to have a Kuula? Loach( It looks like a little banded eel) in with an Albino cory in a three gal tank, and a ten gal for a good year or more. I never had any problems with them.

I have 4 yoyo loaches, 4 clown loaches and 3 juli corys in a 55 gal tank and they seem to get along fine. they do require a few hiding places that they can home though. what size is your tabk and how many hiding places do you have?

Well the tank is only a 20 gal (5 tiger barbs, 2 panda corys, 2 clown loaches, 3 ramshorn snails). But before anyone preaches to me that the tank is overstocked, the loaches are living there temporarily until I can find them a new home. I inhereted them with a 55 gal that now houses our goldfish. I am aware that the loaches will eventually outgrow the 20 gal. Right now they're only about 2.5 inches so they're okay for now. :)

The tank has two small pieces of driftwood and plastic plants so there are plenty of hiding places. However the loaches do not use them nearly as often as you'd think becuase they school with the Tiger Barbs. Must be the coloration. Perhaps they think they're swimming with a group of clown loaches and so these guys almost never go into hiding.

We'll see how it goes over the next week or so. If I see any more fin damage perhaps I'll move the corys into the 10 gal that I'm setting up with live plants. I'm giong to need a good bottom feeder in there anyway.
