Too much LR? (pics)

Is it possible to have too much LR?
I've got a 40/42g (180l) tank with approximately 100lb of LR, is this about right or could it be too much for this size tank?

After the tank has been cycled for just over 3 weeks I took a sample of water to my LFS and the guy said my water quality was as good as his show tank!! :dance. So he was happy for me to try a xenia to see how it gets on, he also gave me FOC a piece of toadstool coral that had broken off, any ideas where I should put this piece, as its just placed between two pieces of LR? (bottom picture)

As a standard you should have between 1 and 2 1/2 pounds of live rock per gallon. Sounds to me like you are pretty much where you should be at with the live rock.

There is actually not such real thing as too much LR, except when it gets to be too crowded. But generally, the more the better :)

I think the layout and the amount of your live rock is great! I have about 50 lbs. of live rock in my 25g reef and I had the same experience of great water quality right off the bat! The live rock does an excellent job of cycling a tank almost immediately. Just keep the water moving! Toadstools can go pretty much any where. I put mine about mid-tank level. Enjoy!
