Can anyone ID my plec for me? It was sold as a gibbiceps, but it doesn't look like the ones in the book.
The tail (not clear in the photo) is concave.

Slightly lighter color, but otherwise it looks like the ones on PlanetCatfish that are sub-adults.
Not an expert, though.
looks a lot like a Sailfin

Looks like a Gibbiceps pleco (sailfin). It may get very large;)

Yep. Come to the conclusion that the picture in Baensch is the odd one.
And yes, it's going to get large  ..... As you can see in the pic, it already bulldozes my Vallis.....
They tried to tell me when I got it that they only got to 6". I knew that wasn't true - I expected about a foot. Seems it might well get bigger than that...

This is the most common "variety" of gibbiceps I see. There's like 4-5 different ones that are called gibbiceps, like the royals. I dunno, but I doubt they are all the same specie.

When I went to an LFS in Houston, they had one (same variety) that must have been at least 2 ft long and had to weigh around 15 lbs. It was the largest I had ever seen.
