A little goldie that I rescued has ich. Well I kept him in my 10g for now that has snails in it. Last nite I noticed a few sugar spots so I transfered it to my empty 10g along with the filter. The reason I changed the tank is because of my snails. Even though I am treeating the fish in another tank I am worried about the snail tank.

Can snails harbor ich? What can I use to treat them?

Some links about the authentic lifecycle of Ich, as described by biologists and veterinarian colleges can be found at www.skepticalaquarist.com under "Parasites."

Ich myths can be invented faster than they can be quelled. Don't rely on hearsay.

I know the general lifecycle of ich so that link wasn't much help, but the link to snails was helpful and concerning.

According to the apple snail website, snails have a fish like gill. Unfurtunately, I couldn't find anything on the site about ich, but it gave a list of snail lethal meds. Basically, everything used to treat ich. I did find something about snails being tolerant of salt but that was in pond applications.

Does anyone have any experience with ich, snails, and/or salt?
