More or Less Plants in a Cycle

I'd definitely add as many easy, fast-growing stem plants as you can stuff in the tank. Just be sure you have enough light for them to grow properly. If done right, you will hardly notice the cycle at all (no noticeable ammonia or nitrite spikes) and your fish won't suffer (known as a "silent" cycle).

I heard that its best to introduce plants later, or slowly when cycling. They use oxygen that the bacteria need to flourish. Although I doubt they use enough to affect the bacteria. I've done fine putting plants into a cycling aquarium.

Where do you get the idea that plants will rob the bacteria of oxygen? Plants will use CO2 and produce O2.

Oh wow, its late here. I am tired. :-P
I read something in the plant forum about why you should not cycle with a lot of plants... I obvioulsy got the reason why wrong. disregard my first post! :-D

You should not fishless cycle using ammonia in a fully planted tank. Ammonia and lights are likely to create a very rich algae outbreak.

With fish it is an entirely different thing, the more plants the merrier.
