I just received my All-Glass CF strip light from Big Al's, and the thing is HUGE (height and width)! Since I'm going to have a hard time fitting this on my 55 gal with my HOB filter and glass hood, I was thinking of returning it for the FW version of the Coralife CF strip light with the riser legs (to clear the HOB filter and glass hood lids when open).

Just wondering:

1) if people have these and if they are happy with them.
2) do you use them with the riser legs?
3) do you have the optional moonlight? Which one (3/4 watt or 1 watt)? Do you like these as well?

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

I have the coralife 4x65 watt freshwater version on a 72 gallon. I dont use the legs, but i do have a glass hood between the surface of the water and the light so this may also be cutting some of the heat. The fan however does do a pretty good job at keeping it cool and my water temperature never rises with this light, even when on for over 10 hours a day. As for satisfaction? Im very satisfied with the light. It does the job very well, although the fan is a tad noisy, but defenately not terrible.

As for the moonlight, i dont have it in mine. Its good if youd like to view your fish at night, but mine are lazy and goto sleep minutes after the lights go out so i didnt bother with the moonlight version. They are very active during the day though, my **** barbs even nip at me when i put my hand in there! :D I dont think they like me......

Hi Mike,

I've got the Coralife 2x 96 watt Freshwater and am very happy with it. Build quality is very high and looks great.

I'll echo Mooch's comment on the fan noise, though the fans only go on when the second CF is turned on (in my unit anyway). With only the first CF turned on, the fans are not engaged. Having said this, the fans aren't THAT loud.

I use the riser legs and find that the clips used to attach the legs to the main unit are a bit flaky (stamped metals clips which vary in quality). Otherwise, the legs work fine and also look good.

Hope this helps,
Joe

Sorry forgot to mention, I don't have the moonlight. Just 2x 96 watt 6700K
