Recently i braught home 2 jds, a male and female. They have lived in "harmony" for almost a month. I did not think they would breed, but today discovered eggs! *happy dance* :dance :dance They laid them on two surfaces, and it is fun to watch wally (female) go from site to site, guarding them.
Anyway, the point... wally has dark coloring for a female, at least from what i have read, but tonight she was mostly black. You could just see and inch or so of stripe on her top. She is the one on the left here in her normal coloring and here is her dark Though there is a bit of a shadow on the dark picture, it is not really covering anything up. May not be the best picture, but that is what i could get that was not all a blur. I just want to point out again that the bottem half of her is totally one color, dark black. And the normal blue specs on her body are harder to see than before.
now i know that when they are darker they happier and not stressed out, but can they get that dark, especially a female? Has anyone else had anything like this happen? I just want to make sure everything is alright and there is nothing i need to do/fix in the tank environment.
