Electric blue

I know electric blue Jack Dempsey’s are new to the hobby, but how do you guys think one will do in this setup.

Tank: 75g glass tank, with white sand, plastic plants, ceramic pots, bogwood, Eheim wet/dry filter.
Inhabitants: 6 Giant Danios, 3 Firemouths (between 2"-3.5" approximately), one 3" Bulldog pl*co.

I have had some people say that it would be okay if I buy him small.

But I am just curious to as what you people think. Thanks for the help in advanced.

I might be just a touch concerned about aggression from the FM's and how a Electric Blue JD might handle them.
The EBJD's are somewhat smaller physically, less aggressive and can be fragile. Fragile, especially when young and acclimating to a new tank,
there's been a few discussions about EBJD's and their differences from regular JD's.

Id have thought they would be okay with FM's as FM's tend to just do the whole aggressive display hoping the other party will back down, I know mine are the least aggressive members of my tank they flare up and are more aggressive with each other than anyone else.

See, that's what I was concerned about because I don't have any other tank mates besides FM's so I don't know if they will be aggressive to the little guy. I have also heard about the JD being not as hardy, smaller, and not as aggressive.

I have always heard that FM's are only aggressive within their group, but one of mine can be a real pain. She comes all the way across the tank to bug the others and actually chases them instead of just flaring up hoping the other will back down.

Maybe if I separate the tank from the dominant FM I could get away with it. I am hoping that she will only be dominant to the others and kind of leave the JD alone. I would put him into my 10 gallon tank, but it’s already overstocked.

Lemme know what you think.

I have kept quite a few Jacks as well as Firemouths, and I have found that the firemouth can be quite a bully, especially in pairs. I would think though as long as you have adequite cover in your tank they should be fine. I have gotten away with putting alot of stuff together that people said I couldnt. Good luck to you.

Exactly the same here, my female FM was fine and friendly, used to follow the sev and a Blue acara I had around the tank like a puppy dog. When I introduced the male FM to her she used to attack him violently, luckily he learnt to stick up for himself! later on though when I introduced the convict and other acaras she seemed to calm down. now her biggest eniemy is the Juwel, but its all display, nothing serious, they both ignore my JD's.
I think you should be more concerned about the hardiness of the blues as I have heard they are very difficult to care for, even experienced fishkeepers havent been able to successfully keep them into adulthood without them mystriously dying.
