are ADF's rare because i have hunted and hunted for them and i cant find them any were?????

They're not rare... where I live, they're sold in most chain pet stores.

I'm not too sure about the dwarf frog, but it's larger cousin, the african clawed frog, is illegal in some states like California and Florida due to the amount that have been released in the wild and are now thriving, choking local ecosystems, etc.

Personally, I try not to buy animals online, but if its your only hope and you don't mind paying an extra $20 or so, check out this link:

Oh, be sure that the frog is legal where you live. I really don't think the dwarf frog has any legal restrictions, but it could.

i can only find african clawed frog nearly all the petstores have them and not adf

I'd say to wait awhile and see if your lfs gets any healthy dwarf frogs in. If they have the african clawed frogs than they should at some point carry the smaller, cuter, more community-friendly dwarf frog. If you get tired of waiting, go the online route and hope that your frog makes it through the shipping system unharmed and not too shaken up.

Also, it is very very very unlikely that there are any legal restrictions on the adf if your lfs sells the clawed frog.

PETCO here in Miami carries both the ACF and ADF...I'm sure a local PETCO can order them if there are enough requests?

I could have sworn ACFs were illegal in Florida. oh well. All the better for the aquarium hobbyist. Are they legal in California?

i live in scotland wer ther are no petcos are petsmarts the only big chain we have is pets at home and i wood neva buy a fish from ther agen

ACF's illegal in FL??

If ACFs are illegal in Fl then just about every petstore in my area is breaking the law.

Last I knew, they are, indeed, illegal in California because of the massive biological havoc they have wrought. Utah, Nevada and Arizona have the same rules. These frogs can breed in warm water and they produce similar effects to a snakehead.

This site:

as of 2001 names Florida as a state where it is illegal to own, transport, or sell them.
