I age my water in containers for about a week before they go into my tanks. The schedule had been that after a w/c I fill the containers half-full with tap water and come Thursday afternoon I start adding r/o to the one that will be used on Saturday and on Friday to the one that will be used on Sunday. It takes a long time to fill them. Usually I ask my wife to turn them off after she comes home from work, but that sometimes is not enough time.

Could I start filling them up on let's say Sunday to be used next Saturday and Sunday? I wouldn't think that r/o water deteriorates with time. What do you guys think?

I know, one solution is to use float valves. Two things with that, $30 or so a piece plus I hear they can and do fail from time to time.

great question, and sorry to say i dont know the exact answer,. but my suggestion is no ro water will not foul, just thinking outloud ro water has most all minerals taken outa it, so nothing to spoil,. it might be a good idea to put a small power head in the water so it doesnt sit still for a whole week . but i cant see why water would go bad or spoil at all in a weeks time,.

the water itself won't go bad, but because ro water is so pure it easily absorbes gasses and fumes out of the air. just make sure you keep paint fumes and other noxious stuff out of the room where you store the water and it will be better for the fish.

It is mostly common sence about that and other than that small caution I would say your water is fine and will be fine.

A little OT: but what is the advantage of aging water?
