An acquaintance recently asked if I wanted a group of 12 Neolamprologus Brichardi she no longer could care for. When I got there, the fish looked like what I thought were Daffodils (pulcher). What are some differences between the two species? Or are these just 2 varieties of the same fish. I'm keeping them in a typical Tang setup. My inquiry is more for identification purposes. .....Thanks... Gregg

looks like they are the same - neolomprologus - differentiated by coloring, perhaps with a different subspecies name.

you can view mouseover pictures at this link to pick the right one.

this particular link calls them both neolamprologus brichardi, with 'daffodil' differentiated.

They will have different dark markings on their cheeks/gill plates and the daffodil has a lot more yellow in the fins, especially on the dorsal.
