Dose any one use stump remover in there planted tanks. I think it’s time for me to switch because I’m using 6 lbs a week with all my tanks. What should I get that will be cheaper in the long run. I know that cops will be at my door if anything blows up near my house.

I’m looking for something that’s straight Nitrate.

Nothing is straight nitrate, nitrate is an ion in water (an anion, negatively charged) not a compound. It has to be paired with some cation to be a compound. Potassium nitrate is commonly used to supplement both K+ and NO3--. Some brands of stump remover are potassium nitrate.

You must have a lot of tanks to be using 6# of N for fertilization.
Try Greg Watson's site: www.gregwatson.com/

Maybe you can work out a deal with him, but the shipping will kill you at the rate you say you are using it.
And anyone, in this day and age is gonna be very, very hesitant to ship KNO3 in quantity.

My planted tanks right now are 2 300 gal, 4 150 gal, 7 75 gal, and 10 50 gal tanks to 20 ppm. If I dose the tanks to 20 ppm at 9:00 am when the lights come on, at 10:00 at night there almost at 5 ppm.

I was looking at the prices and I can get the stump remover cheaper (did not look at shipping).

This came from a trusted friend who is very into aquatic plants:

not all stump removers are created equal, not all are pure potassium nitrate. He would be better off finding a hygroponics place and buying pure KNO3

I can get 50lbs for what a few lbs of stump remover costs

HTH! ;)

The hydroponics shop I visit sells KNO3, it's quite inexpensive. They sell their products in both small tubs (which is what I buy and it lasts forever) and large 5 or 10 pound bags. Everything is sold in bags/containers with a sticker saying what it contains (no name), which I imagine costs a lot less than a brand name stump remover product. If you can find a hydroponics shop, I agree that would be the best bet.
