red algae on sand

its more maroon than red, but when i look at it closely it looks like lots of little strands. is this good, or should i get rid of it, i can take some pics if you need to see it?

if it is cyano...

I got rid of it in my tank by using an old tooth brush and remove it from the sand and any rocks. I also added powerheads to make it harder to grow back.

If you are using tap water it could be coming from the phosphates and silc. Switch to RO/DI water and add a bag of phos and silc balls which will remove them.

I had a slight cyano problem and I did this and it corrected up quickly...
