How big will my male Midas get in my 125 if he is alone. I'd like him to get 14" or so, do you think this might happen. Is a 125 big enough for him, I've read that a Midas needs a 150.

A 125g is more than enough for a single Midas. Thge only difference between a standard 125g and a standard 150g is a few inches in heighth, which makes no difference to a cichlid.

14" SL (without tail) or 14" TL (total legnth)? There's a good chance he could reach 14" TL, (even though thats a lot bigger than a wild Midas would ever reach).

i had a RD in a 55 gal for about 1.5 yrs. it got to be 9+" and had put on about 6" from when it was bought. i had to give it away. i think the key to getting a nice sized fish up to 12+" is the amount of water changes. cleaner water promotes more vigorous growth when your fish is young.

Good Luck!
