I would like to set up a 40 gallon saltwater setup. For fish im looking at eventually getting a coral beauty angel, 5-6 green chromis, 3 pajama cardinals, a flame goby, and a six line wrasse. would all these fish be ok in a 40? I'd be willing to drop the cardinals but no matter what want to get the coral beauty. I am planning on getting atleast 40 lbs of live rock and plenty of snails, shrimps, and crabs for scavenging and algea control.

way to many fish!! you could have no more than 4 fish in that size tank.

I wouldn't say 4 but, o.m.g is olvier right about that being way overstocked. If you have to get the coral beauty you could go for the cardinals, goby, and wrasse. You'll have to keep up with water changes but, it would be do able with a little work. None of those guys are huge waste producers. That would be a LOT of fish but, you could pull it off if and only if you are willing to do fairly large water changes weekly. You could also pull off 3 or 4 chromis and the beauty . All this requires a f.o. tank or a f.o.w.l.r .

Good, keep asking we've already made the mistakes for you.

if it helps, I have a 46, not too much bigger, and as of now I have a pink spot goby and a rusty angel. I only plan on adding a pair of clowns and an anemone. It's very easy to overstock a SW tank b/c there are so many cool fish.

Do yourself a favor and hold off on the anemone for a few months please. They aren't at all easy to take care of and they do much better in well established tanks. Not flaming or anything just give it a little time.

not to doubt your judgement, but I can take care of anemones just fine. My tank is well established and it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks

I would personally ditch the green chromis only becuase they aren't that cool. Look at all the fish you can get in a salt water tank, and out of all these you want a blue, green little boring thing. When you are spending all this money on a tank, get wicked fish that are obvius that they are cooler than freshwater. ie. clonw fish, angel fish, tangs etc...
