i recently aquired a few of these guys, there are pretty big, i decided to get them because i was told and have read that most mushrooms are easy to keep (correct me if i'm wrong), from where i aquired them they told me that they were called either "flame" or "fire" mushrooms....

they appear kind of rough in texture, they glow quite a really nice florcent orange under my lights... (is there a way i can set my digital camera to take pics of what i auctualy see?)... anyways....

i just wanted some info about these and to see what their real name was...

I can't tell what kind it is from the picture, but then again I don't know too many mushroom species. I do know however that mushrooms are easy to take care of as they require little light. Anyone else know what kind it is?

thanks for the try, i hope someone knows :-P

what are the differences in the two? charactistic wise and feeding wise n other stuff?

if it helps any the "skin" on these is kinda think, other shrooms that i have seen are alot thinner...

Hard to say from the pic, but it doesn't look that much like a ricordea to me.

I did a little double checking, and found that several discosoma species are probably really actinodiscus anyway. The photo looks like one of the "standard" actinodiscus, at least in terms of general shape. They do well under fairly low light, and may fry if kept too close to halides. They probably absorb a lot of nutrients directly from the water column, and my experience has been that they do quite well in fairly nutrient-rich tanks.
