Help, pink growth on Pacu, what is it??

I have had this Red Bellied Pacu for just over a month, and he has been doing great so far. Then I noticed this pink spherical growth up near his gills on one side. The "tumor" has been growing everyday. Anyone know what this is? How can I treat it? Thanks.
 
What size tank? Water Parameters? Water change schedual? also if you have a picture it will help with trying to identify whats wrong with your fish.

With out knowing anything else...more water changes.Also I believe there is an article about fish diseases and that may provide some additional help.
 
150 gallon,
ph = 7
nitrite = 0
nitrate ~ 4ppm
ammonia = 0

I do 40% water changes weekly. The pacu is only about 3.5" long right now.
 
my friend had some and they fought like crazy and they developed scars. i dont have pacus but they might be battle wounds.

I don't think its a battle scar. It is getting bigger everyday. No one else has seen this?
