Ok so I bought a 40 gallon breeder (36x18x18) from a guy with 2 rather large african swords towards the back of the tank. I brought it home, filled it up with water (which was dechlorinated with Prime), and since, they have not been looking good, and everyday they look worse. They were only out of the water for maybe 4 hours, and even then the roots were wet (which i know doesn't matter with most aquatic plants)

I ran numbers, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, all 0 or so close it was negligable. The pH is about 7.6, the temperature is 76.

I have a strip light, 110watts i run for 12 hours everyday, 11:15-11:15

The only thing I can see is that I don't have a proper filter on it yet, i am running 2 very small hang on backs until my canister comes in tomorrow.

The tanks has 5 rosy barbs in it, all less than 2.5 inches, and a 2 inch rubbernose pleco.

Some parts of the leaves are a little brown, maybe an algae problem, there are black spots on some leaves, and also on my other plants, and the leave look thin and weak, plus some leaves are a little yellow.

The substrate has flourite in it.

I am just lost, I hope I have given enough information for people to adaquately help me. Any suggestions/information will be much appreciated.

Yes sorry, I put African Sword Plant, but I meant Amazon sword plant, i was thinking african because my powder blue cichlid was staring at me to feed him. Echinodorus amazonicus is the plant

RTR, what do I do? I have some plant fertilizer tablets coming in tomorrow, Do I need more fish, I don't want these things to die, they are beautiful pieces. Do I need to do water changes like daily?

So this tank was only down for a few hours? And the chemistry is pretty much all there? I would think maybe you did some damage in transport. Maybe cut back the root system a bit that kind of thing. Maybe dried it out a bit. I would think it would come back. Root tabs might help. You have it running now?

It was down maybe 4 HOURS. All the chemistry should be there, there was even water left in it up to the gravel level, In trnasporting it, I don't think i could have damaged it, it set flat in my car, the ride was very smooth (highway all the way) and the distance we had to carry it from car to stand was maybe 30 yards. I have some root tabs coming in today thank God, hopefully they will help

I have six different Amazon swords in my 100gal and they all do great. From experience they feed more from the gravel then the water. Put in a few plant tabs at the roots.
