i have a tank thats about to be empty and i was thinking about putting a betta in it but the tank has some alge patches on it and the snails are'nt really doing the job so i was going to put a couple of ottos in there and take out the snail. so is there a good chance that the betta would ignor them or would he try and kill them?

i've had a betta with an otto for the last couple of weeks. the betta looks "puzzled" at it, but so far so good.

I have 2 ottos in with my betta and the betta looked curious for awhile gave chase once or twice and realized ol ' otto is too quick, now they co-exist peacefully.
They do get along.
But, as always with bettas, if you notice aggression separate them.

thanks for the info i went out yesterday and bought a Cambodian betta he's got a white body a pinkish red head and teal green fins and so far hes doing great. when he first saw an otto he went up to and was looking at it for awhile then he slaped it with his tail and ignored it. he's also in there with a dwarf frog and that just confused him to much. but so far so great every thing is doing well.

I just put an oto in with my betta (and other fish) yesterday and the betta seems very curious about him. He got used to the other fish swimming around and loves to chase them but he seems to be confused as to why the oto just sits on the side of the tank! The oto just ignores him. So far, so good :)

my otto's get really close to him and never a problem.
just watch the betta for a week or so and make sure your beta plays nice.

Ii have a betta in a 10 gal with 2 otos and 5 cory cats, George doesn't bother anyone except maybe steals some food from the cories. So I think your alright. :p
