I just came back from HD with 2 bulbs. The are 2700K. Are they good for my plants?
They will grow plants, but in my opinion will look awful. They have a decided yellowish-green cast that I find ugly. You may like them though.
I would take them back and trade them in for some bulbs in the 5500 - 6500K range.

They are unlg. They are orange and brown. I think Il go back. To ones at my LFS are like $20 each.
You should be able to find a nice color range at either HD or Lowe's. They both carry a variety of them. At a much cheaper price.

My 6500K Philips daylight spirals are from HD - I'm assuming we're talking spirals here. If you're not able to find something in the 5000K - 6500K range and need something right away, most 'cool white' bulbs are 4100K - still not ideal, they wash colours out a little, but they're not orangey like 'soft white' bulbs (2300K - 2700K) and are generally quite cheap.
