30 gallon:

2 sailfin marble mollies - 1m/1f (1.75" ea)
2 sailfin lyretail dalmatian mollies - 1m/2f (1.75" ea)
2 mickey mouse platys - 2f (1.25" ea)
2 neon platys - 2f (1.5 " ea)
3 guppies - 1m/2f (1" male, 1.5" ea female)
1 sunset fire platy - 1f (1.5")
1 gold dust molly - 1f (1.5")
1 placo, 1 ADF

Will the sailfin mollies and dalmatians do ok in a 10 gallon, alone? Or how should I spread out the ratio...if I need to at all?

Thanks....and no, the ADF doesn't get the 10 gallon by himself - I know all the ADF fans are going to hang me for my unjust amphibian practices. Kidding.

pleco? No. I would nix on the pleco and the probably the frog.

The ADF is usually mistaken for a different frog, which has WAY different needs.

I don't have an African clawed frog...is it that species to which you refer? He definitely is an African dwarf.

Regarding the pleco, or plecostomus, I refered to this link below to obtain alot of my info. It's just the common dk.brown garden variety that is pretty much standard in most pet stores.

Let me know...

The standard pleco you are refering to gets to be well over a foot long, way to big for most aquariums whether the stores sell them all the time or not!!

Holy crap-a-noid.

I better get to buyin' that tub.

Whatever happened to "they only grow as big as the tank will allow..."?

I don't know why everyone buys such huge plecs. When there are nice small varities that can be bought.

That is called stunting a fish's growth. It is very wrong and unhealthy. The fish 's growth is stunted and they will not grow any more due to that.

10g is too small for sailfins, they can reach 4-5" (larger in the wild). I'd keep guppies and possibly platys in the 10g, keep the sailfins in the 30g. Common plecos get very large, ~24" or so, and are messy fish. I'd return the pleco and look for something more suited to a small tank. If you're looking for algae control, nothing beats otos when it comes to diatoms (brown algae) and many soft green algaes, and since they stay very small you could keep several (they're best in groups).

Just so ya know, Otos can be hard to acclimate and I have heard stories about them not making it past the first week. I have not had that problem and would recommend them. Research a little on algae eaters and you will find one that you like. BTW Blinky you have a PM.
