Can an Apple Snail survivie with africans?

So can an Apple snail survive. My pleco doesnt like eating algae so I need a snail to help and plus they are cool little guys, I just dont want him to get hurt.
 
I can't answer your question for sure, but at the store I work at, we have never had any snails in any of the cichlid tanks...african and south american...we are constantly trying to remove snails from the rest of the tanks and move the orandas around to help out a bit.
My guess is no, but I could be wrong...someone who may have experience might be able to help you out a bit more :D
 
Well, when it comes to water quality the snail will thrive because they tend to like harder more alkaline water like africans do, because it preserves their calcium shell, but I am not sure if the snail will get picked on by the africans.
