I right now have it has a nice wall right down the middle of the tank... should i have it Against the back? I'm seeing alot like that..

I don't believe there's any hard and fast rule.

I read an awfull lot before I started (3 weeks ago!!!!) and although the "wall" seems very popular, I've gone for two mounds with a "bay" in between. Only the right hand one (see below) actually sits against the back wall, and even there the rock is like swiss cheese as I was keen to get water circulation around all of the rock to try and avoid any "deadspots".

Each to his own I reckon.

Nice islands, ToonPack!

No real rules. I like a pretty open arrangement, with caves and valleys for the fish to play in. I had originally decided on a two-island scenario, with softies and hard corals separated, but it has evolved into a long mountain with a valley in the middle.

The main thing I try to avoid is having rock against the glass, where circulation is reduced and junk accumulates.

Im working on this now-in fact I seem to keep working on it-cant 'settle' on an arrangement

I am doing a 29 reef

29s and many other tanks dont have much depth

Limits the opportunities and a wall" or leaning against the glass may be more a function of size to work with than a purposeful choice

Have found that large pieces make for more stability. I had started with some small ones and wondered how on earth you ever stabilized the darn structures. Once I purchased several large pieces I understood. If I had stayed with small I would have to have leaned against glass Im sure

Is there some type of cement/glue? you can use to form a more stable pile of rocks therefore create some interesting cave structures?
