I have two, 4 month old, clown fish. One is a slighty smaller than the other and seems to be picked on a little bit. I have a 30g with only LR and a few hermits. Lately the smaller clown has been exhibiting some interesting behavior.
Sometimes the larger one nips at the smaller one (no harm is done) and then the smaller one gets as close as possible and "shutters". It shakes its body as close to the larger one as possible.
Also tonight the two seem to be butting heads with one another and "dancing". I am well aware of mating rituals and hermaphrodism among marine organisms but was wondering if anyone else has seen this type of behavior with clowns. Maybe a dominance thing or they are 'choosing' sexes???
I would love to hear about anyone elses experience with clowns.
