i recently added a devils hand leather coral to my tank. The coral was doing excellent, fully opened and all. Now the coral is shrunk up since there are snails sitting on it all the time and hasnt opened up fully since. All the water conditions in the tank are where they should be. I was wondering if i should be concerned about this. The snails are probably about a half inch long, and have an oval shaped shell that comes up to a point. Sorry, i dont know the name. Any help would be greatly helpful and thank you in advance.

There are predatory snails that can hitchhike with wild-collected corals. Some will eat them from the inside out. All my references for IDing them are at home, and I can't dredge much on the web this morning.

If it's not the snails, leathers can pout for days, sometimes for unknown reasons. In some cases they will tuck in for a few days, shed a layer of mucus, and then open back up again. Could be that the snails are just nassarius feeding on the mucus.
