Temp affects fry gender?

Hey all,

I have about 8 1 week old molly fry and I remember reading something about tank temperature playing a role in determining the gender of the fish ( I know at this age they all appear female). Is this true/possible? And if so what temperature ranges cause females/males

I dont know i could be totally off about this one, just curious
 
I've heard similar, but my molly fry do fine at 80F. You don't want a ton of males b/c they may pester each other with aggression (especially sail fin mollies). I actually heard about this with sea turtle eggs several years ago on some Discovery Channel thing, but I'm not sure why they cared. Maybe overabundance of one gender or another?

Mollies have the odd ability to change sex, but it's rare. Female can become male, so I've read, in situations that there are no males. I've never seen it happen. Clownfish on the reef do this all the time, but males become female.
 
Yes I don't want to have all males again they are very hard to "house" due to aggressiveness and "friskiness". My female molly actually changed into a male at 5 and a half months but she may have just been a late bloomer lol

the temp is 79 i just hjope im not creating a whole new brood of males...
 
The temp and the pH value have direct effect on the gender of fishes. This has being scientifically proven in an experiment conducted on cichlids.
