o.Ooo I had been cycling for about 13 days without testing the levels.

The day my final 20 lbs. of live rock came all nasty (had to clean a lot) and I stuck it in my tank.

Yesterday, my test kit arrived and I did the tests, and Ammonia, Nitrite were off the charts. at 7 ppm ammonia, >1 ppm NItrite... 24 hours later my ammonia is at 0.25 and nitrite is at ~1 ppm. Am I almosssttt donnne???

Whwn the NH3 and NO2 levels are at zero, you're done. You probably have a few more weeks.

confused-has teh LR been in there the entire 13 days or did it just arrive???

You are REALLY close if your answer is 13 days

Wait till its 0 ammonia and nitrite, for sure, and add ONE hardy fish

If your rock just came, Id be more cautious worrying about die off that hasnt happened yet

Just my newbie opinion(cycled 2 tanks though so NOT a total newb)

30 lbs. of it was from a guys old tank
5 lbs. 8 days ago,
the last 20 lbs. was what i described as just arriving above.

My theory.. is that The 30 lbs. of rock was REally good just I didnt have enough current. Cuz my levels dropped the morning after i installed the two power heads.

Which i might add... one is blowing the output of my protein skimmer around in the tank, and is filling it with millions of tiny bubbles that give it the appearance of dustyness =/

try turning ur skimmer down a bit to get rid of the bubbles... though i dont know about seaclone skimmers, most powerheads have an adjustable flow and if its up too high it wont skim as well and will blow lots of bubbles into the tank, thats what my prizm does anyway.

hey, when you say turn down my skimmer, do u mean let in less air? The little air valve control is all i know.

Having used Seaclone skimmers in the past, you have to slowly adjust the flow with the valve until you get a balance between bubbles and good protien skimming (may take a week or so). Almost all skimmers produce some bubbles. Good luck, hope this helps. :coffee2:
