not sure whether or not to post this in the ciclid forum or not , but its basically about lighting....

I have a friend that has a Green Terror and a Jack Dempsey , what lighting is best for ciclids to show off color? Any ideas?

depending on the size of your tank...if you can use 2 lights, color shows well with a mixture of bulbs...I like to use a 40 watt ColorMax with a 40 watt Spectramax.....one gives nice brightness and the other gives nice warms tones to the colors...or, Coralife makes a bulb called Trichromatic which is also a very bright "daylight" bulb...use it with the Colormax, too, for good colors and brightness for plants, as well. If you have a small tank and only 1 light, the Colormax bulb will show the best colors, but is not a real bright light. A good store should let you experiment until you find the right one!
