A small whitish spot had appeared on the head of my black balloon molly. I've been treating the whole tank with Pimafix, but this morning I noticed that one of her frys was all the time picking on her, exactly on the spot where the white patch is. I went out and when I came back later I saw that the scales on the top of her head look like they are "cracking". You know when the dirt is so dry (like in the desert) it looks like it's cracking... I'm sorry but that's the best description I can give

Any idea of what this could be?? :(

Does it look the the scales are "lifting" upwards at all?

As far as Pimafix goes, I didn't have any luck with it. Over a week ago I noticed a white "cottony" looking tuft on the top fin of my Dwarf Gourami. My lfs suggested Pimafix which I used for a week straight. All it did was turn my water cloudy and my Gourami's fungus grew even worse. I finally decided to take him back and get my 10 bucks back yesterday.

I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I know what I would do right away in a situation like this.

First I would Do a huge water change and with the water change I would notch up the temp slowly a few degrees. With the water change I would add some table salt to about a teasoon for every four gallons of water. Keep up with the water changes every day four at least ten days.

This may not cure it, but it is a good start until you really know what you are dealing with. That being said, I'm sure none of this is new information for you. Judging by your posts you already know wnough to do this.

Good luck....
